He married Polly --?-- before 1806. Polly was born in Virginia between 1780 and 1790. Polly died between 1840 and 1850 in Monroe County, Missouri, at 60 years of age.

• 2 i. Nancy² Turner was born in Kentucky 1806. Nancy died between 1880 and 1895 in Sullivan County, Missouri, at 74 years of age. She married Isaac Stout in Adair County, Kentucky, May 11, 1824. Isaac was born in Shelby County, Kentucky May 25, 1806. Isaac died April 25, 1895 in Sullivan County, Missouri, at 88 years of age. His body was interred April 26, 1895 in Sullivan County, Missouri, at Newtown Cemetery.

Second Generation

3. Richard D.² Turner (William¹) was born in Kentucky October 6, 1807.⁽¹⁾ Richard died June 15, 1893 in Cooke County, TX, at 85 years of age.⁽²⁾ His body was interred in Cooke County, TX, at Union Hill Cemetery.

He married Margret Turner in Missouri, before 1833. Margret was born in Kentucky October 12, 1811.⁽³⁾ Margret was the daughter of George Turner and Anna Maupin. Margret died November 5, 1885 in Cooke County, TX, at 74 years of age.⁽⁴⁾ Her body was interred in Cooke County, TX, at Union Hill Cemetery.

Richard D. Turner and Margret Turner had the following family:

Third Generation

5. George William³ Turner (Richard D.², William¹) was born in Monroe County, Missouri November 15, 1833.⁽⁵⁾ Georges tombstone reports the birth date of November 3, while his son's family bible suggests November 15. His tombstone also reports a conflicting date of death. It's appearance suggests it was placed many years after his death, possibly fifty years later based on the style, and could explain the date discrepancies. George died September 29, 1915 in Gainesville, Cooke County, Texas, at 81 years of age.⁽⁶⁾ He died at #7 Cloud Street from paralysis, which he had for 5 months. The informant on the death certificate was R.H. Turner. He may be the son of John H. Turner. There are conflicting dates for Georges death. His death certificate shows a death and burial date of September 29, 1915. His obituary says he died on the 28th and he was buried on the 29th. The family Bible of his son, Marcus L. Turner, says he died on the 27th. His tombstone, which appears to have been placed some years after his death, probably in the 1950's or 1960's, shows a death date of September 15, 1915. This was likely an error because the stone was placed so long after his death. The death date according to family records is the most probable.

His body was interred September 29, 1915 in Cooke County, TX, at Union Hill Cemetery.⁽⁷⁾

He married Sarah Frances Goodnight in Cooke County, TX, January 18, 1855.⁽⁸⁾ They were married by Rama Dye, Justice of the Peace. Rama was Sarah's mother's brother. Rama was later lynched as part of the "Great Hanging at Gainesville" during the Civil War for not taking up the Confederate cause.

Sarah was born in Audrain County, Missouri February 9, 1837.⁽⁹⁾ Sarah was the daughter of Edward Goodnight and Mary Polly Dye. Sarah died February 1, 1906 in Cooke County, TX, at 68 years of age.⁽¹⁰⁾ Her body was interred in Cooke County, TX, at Union Hill Cemetery.

He married America Isabella Watshall in Cooke County, TX, November 23, 1864.⁽¹⁵⁾ America was born in Kentucky February 1, 1840.⁽¹⁶⁾ America died July 10, 1913 in Cooke County, TX, at 73 years of age.⁽¹⁷⁾ Her body was interred in Cooke County, TX, at Union Hill Cemetery.

He married Levina A. Colvin in Cooke County, TX, October 6, 1859.⁽²¹⁾ Levina was born in Missouri about 1841. Levina died March 11, 1882 in Cooke County, TX, at 40 years of age.⁽²²⁾

Sanford N. Turner and Levina A. Colvin had the following family:

11. Solomon S.³ Turner (Richard D.², William¹) was born in Cooke County, TX February 1, 1849.⁽²⁶⁾ Sol died March 20, 1929 in Cooke County, TX, at 80 years of age.⁽²⁷⁾ His body was interred in Cooke County, TX, at Union Hill Cemetery.

He married three times. He married Minerva E. Fisher in Cooke County, TX, January 13, 1870.⁽²⁸⁾ Minerva was born in Texas December 13, 1849.⁽²⁹⁾ Minerva died February 22, 1896 in Cooke County, TX, at 46 years of age.⁽³⁰⁾ Her body was interred in Cooke County, TX, at Union Hill Cemetery. He married Mary L. J. Calvert in Cooke County, TX, March 6, 1898.⁽³¹⁾ Mary was born in Alabama April 19, 1862.⁽³²⁾ Mary died October 30, 1905 in Cooke County, TX, at 43 years of age. Her body was interred in Cooke County, TX, at Union Hill Cemetery. 12. Jasper Newton³ Turner (Richard D.², William¹) was born in Cooke County, TX December 1850. Jasper died 1931 in Grayson County, Texas, at 80 years of age.⁽⁴⁶⁾ His body was interred in Grayson County, Texas, at Mount Zion Cemetery.⁽⁴⁷⁾

He married twice. He married Mary E. Miller in Cooke County, TX, June 16, 1870.⁽⁴⁸⁾ Mary was born in Texas 1852. Mary died between 1874 and 1876 at 22 years of age. He married Elizabeth L. Crenshaw in Cooke County, TX, December 17, 1876.⁽⁴⁹⁾ Eliza was born in Alabama March 1850. Eliza was the daughter of John Crenshaw and Rebecca --?--. Eliza died 1930 in Grayson County, Texas, at 80 years of age. Her body was interred in Grayson County, Texas, at Mount Zion Cemetery.

Jasper Newton Turner and Mary E. Miller had the following family:

Fourth Generation

13. Mary Margret⁴ Turner (George William³, Richard D.², William¹) was born in Cooke County, TX May 3, 1857.⁽⁵²⁾ Mary died January 28, 1897 in Cooke County, TX, at 39 years of age. The location of her grave is unknown. The last persons to know the exact site were her son, Willis Goolsby, and his son, John Robert Goolsby, but they never recorded the site. It is known that the grave is unmarked and is just off the highway between Gainesville and Whitesboro. The cemetery at Whitesboro fits the description and since she and her husband lived near Whitesboro, it is likely she is buried there.

She married Jeremiah Marr Goolsby in Cooke County, TX, November 29, 1874.⁽⁵³⁾ Jeremiah was born in Wood County, Texas January 25, 1856. Jeremiah was the son of Judge Anderson Pleasant Goolsby and Camelia Allred. Jeremiah died November 29, 1931 in Silver Lake Community, Van Zandt County, Texas, at 75 years of age. He died in the home of his daughter, Lula (Goolsby) Prestidge. Not long before his death, he was visiting his daughter, Eula Marshall, when she was living in Sunset, Texas. He told her of a vision he had about his funeral. He told her that they would carry his casket to the cemetery on a wagon and all of the grandchildren would sit on it for the trip except for her son, Aubrey. He told her who all would be there and what would happen. He also told her he wouldn't really be dead when he was buried, but not to do anything because that was just the way things were to be. Eula had forgotten about this until after the funeral, but then she realized his description of the funeral was accurate and Aubrey didn't ride on the wagon with the other grandchildren. His body was interred in Van Zandt County, Texas, at Prairie Springs Cemetery.

Franklin Pierce⁴ Turner (George William³, Richard D.², William¹) was born in Cooke County, TX December 3, 1859.⁽⁵⁴⁾ Frank died February 13, 1928 in Mangum, Greer County, Oklahoma, at 68 years of age.⁽⁵⁵⁾ He died at the home of his brother Ed. His body was interred in Mangum, Greer County, Oklahoma, at Riverside Cemetery.

He married Sarah Marie Springer in Cooke County, TX, November 8, 1885.⁽⁵⁶⁾ Sarah was born in Stanly County, North Carolina August 2, 1871.⁽⁵⁷⁾ Sarah died August 27, 1960 in Cooke County, TX, at 89 years of age.⁽⁵⁸⁾ Her body was interred in Cooke County, TX, at Mount Zion Cemetery.⁽⁵⁹⁾

Franklin Pierce Turner and Sarah Marie Springer had the following family:

15. Martha Jane⁴ Turner (George William³, Richard D.², William¹) was born in Cooke County, TX August 28, 1861.⁽⁷⁷⁾ Martha died June 8, 1930 at 68 years of age. Martha may have died in either Stephens County, Oklahoma or Donely County, Texas. Her body was interred in Stephens County, Oklahoma, at Alma Cemetery.

She married twice. She married Benjamin F. Truitt in Cooke County, TX, September 9, 1881. Benjamin was born in Missouri February 4, 1859. Benjamin died May 23, 1910 in Stephens County, Oklahoma, at 51 years of age. His body was interred in Stephens County, Oklahoma, at Alma Cemetery.

She married --?-- Parks in Stephens County, Oklahoma, between 1910 and 1920. --?-- died between 1910 and 1920 in Stephens County, Oklahoma.⁽⁷⁸⁾

Martha Jane Turner and Benjamin F. Truitt had the following family:

She married James Riley Miller in Cooke County, TX, December 15, 1887. James was born in Texas October 1866.⁽⁸²⁾ James was the son of Joseph A. Miller and Vianah R. Banning. James died February 18, 1942 in Portales, Roosevelt County, New Mexico, at 75 years of age.⁽⁸³⁾ His body was interred in Portales, Roosevelt County, New Mexico, at Portales Cemetery.⁽⁸⁴⁾

Victoria Isabell Turner and James Riley Miller had the following family:

18. Richard Edward⁴ Turner (George William³, Richard D.², William¹) was born in Cooke County, TX August 29, 1872.⁽⁹⁰⁾ Ed died August 11, 1944 in Anadarko, Caddo County, Oklahoma, at 71 years of age. His body was interred in Anadarko, Caddo County, Oklahoma, at Memory Lane Cemetery.

He married Blanche J. Kilgore in Cooke County, TX, December 19, 1895.⁽⁹¹⁾ Blanche was born in Texas October 14, 1876.⁽⁹²⁾ Blanche died May 29, 1977 in Elk City, Beckham County, Oklahoma, at 100 years of age.

One family story suggests that Leatha Cedarholm had visited with James Perry Howard's half-brother, Marion Hardin, and during the visit it was alluded to the fact that James was not Elmer's father. No other information about the mismatch between Elmer's birthdate and the marriage date of his parents was ever exchanged in the family. Elmer died July 24, 1963 in Texas, at 68 years of age.

He married Bessie Elizabeth Kuykendall after 1917. Bessie was born August 23, 1899.⁽²⁰³⁾ Bessie died January 14, 1999 in Post, Garza County, Texas, at 99 years of age.⁽²⁰⁴⁾ Her body was interred January 16, 1999 in Post, Garza County, Texas, at Terrace Cemetery.⁽²⁰⁵⁾ The services were under the direction of the Justice-Mason Funeral Home and officiated by Reverend Billie S.
